Indian Grove: A Little Community with a Big Story
Join Phyllis Sayler and Jeanie Joseph Meade, whose families were among those who settled in the Indian Grove community and continue to have roots there today. They will present the history of this remarkable Chariton County crossroads. Learn about how, when, and why Indian Grove began, its growth and peak years, and the businesses, churches, schools, organizations, families, and community life that shaped it. They’ll share historic photographs, maps, newspaper clippings, and family records connecting the past with the Indian Grove that remains today. They will also share some information on the Arrowhead Saddle Club and Zion Church.
